Mining sam: ED attaches Rs 40 crore assets of Alagiri’s son



The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday said it has provisionally attached 25 movable and immovable properties consisting of lands and buildings in Madurai and Chennai and fixed deposits totalling Rs 40.34 crore of Olympus Granites and others under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act 2002 (PMLA) in an illegal granite mining case. Olympus Granites is owned by Alagiri Dhayanidhi, son of former Union minister MK Alagiri. In a statement here, the ED said it has initiated an investigation under the PMLA against Olympus Granites, Madurai to identify the crime proceeds on the basis of the FIR and charge sheet filed by the Tamil Nadu Police against the said company, its promoters and directors and other individuals.
