Kailash Vijayvargiya predicts doom for Mamata Banerjee, says West Bengal government won’t last till 2021 Assembly elections

Days after denting the aura of invincibility around Mamata Banerjee by improving its tally from two seats to 18 in the Lok Sabha elections, Bharatiya Janata Party general secretary and its key pointsman for West Bengal, Kailash Vijayvargiya has said that the Trinamool Congress government will not be able to complete its full term. Making it clear that the BJP has set its sight on the 2021 Assembly polls, Vijayavargiya said that the people of the state and TMC leaders are angry with the functioning of Mamata Banerjee and are looking for an alternative. I dont think Mamata ji will go on till 2021, saying anything now would be premature. We are preparing for 2021 but this government will fall on its own, he said. Vijayvargiyas remark comes in the backdrop of BJPs stellar show in the eastern state where it increased its tally from two seats in 2014 to 18 seats in the just-concluded Lok Sabha elections. The Trinamool Congress of Mamata Banerjee won 22 seats, 12 less than it had won in the 2014 general elections. The party faced another jolt within a week when three MLAs and a majority of councilors in four municipalities switched to the BJP. Those who have joined the BJP from TMC include three MLAs – Subhrangshu Roy (Bijpur), Tushar Kanti Bhattacharya (Trinamool) and Monirul Islam (Labpur) and scores of workers. One CPI(M) MLA Debendra Roy of Hemtabad has also joined the BJP. According to Vijayavargiya, many TMC MLAs and other party representatives are in regular touch with the BJPs top brass and have expressed the desire to switch over ahead of the assembly polls. Buoyed by a stunning performance, the BJP is now eyeing next year The BJP is expecting that TMC cadre switching sides and the civic polls in 2020 will set the stage for 2021 assembly elections.
