Union Home Minister and BJP president Amit Shah is chairing a meeting of party national office-bearers and state heads at the party headquarters in Delhi. The meeting has reportedly been called to elect new leaders for the various posts within the BJP. The party is also expected to appoint new state presidents for UP and Bihar Reports were also doing rounds that Amit Shah may also decide on the party chief post and hand over the baton to probable However, it has now emerged that Amit Shah may continue as party president till December as crucial assembly elections in some important states such as Maharashtra, Haryana, and Jharkhand are due later this year Among the leaders who are attending the crucial meeting are former union minister JP Nadda, National General Secretary Bhupender Yadav, Dilip Ghosh, former Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje Scindia, Uma Bharti, former Chattisgarh CM Raman Singh, National Vice President Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, Odisha in-charge Arun Singh, and Bengal in-charge Kailash Vijayvarghiya. The meeting began little after 11 am and is currently underway. As per the BJP, the party presently has 58 office bearers including Amit Shah. Of these, 12 are national vice-presidents Eight are national general secretaries Rest are joint general secretary, national secretary, national spokespersons, and secretaries. The meeting comes on the back of the BJP returning to power with a thumping majority, winning 303 seats on its own. The BJPs tally improved from 282 in 2014 to 303 in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections. The party will be hoping to take forward the momentum in the Assembly elections due to be held later this year.
